Re: CBC has gone too far by letting reporters go, Oct. 23.
I very much agree with Bernard Sigouin’s letter that the CBC may end up in trouble so that the government decide to cease public funding of the CBC.
I was saddened, but not surprised, to hear that the CBC had […]

The CBC Radio Orchestra’s final concert is less than a month away, and music director Alain Trudel is planning lots of encores - several years’ worth, in fact.
Trudel and Montreal businessman Philippe Labelle say the CBC’s 70-year-old Vancouver orchestra will carry on after its official farewell concert on […]

Peter Milliken: “reduction of classical music on CBC2 is truly unfortunate”
Monday, October 13th, 2008The reduction of classical music on CBC2 is truly unfortunate. I appreciate the effort involved in creating the document entitled “What MPs Can Do” and I sympathise with all those devoted to this endearvour.”

How ‘ordinary working people’ are central to our art
Sunday, October 12th, 2008“You will discover that artists and writers are your friends and your champions and that what they do is not a “niche issue.” And if you do not already, then you will see that they are workers just like you and that what they do is tell your story.”
Is this what 1984 is like?
Saturday, October 11th, 2008Hello,
I am 42 years old and have listened to CBC Stereo/ Radio 2 for my entire adult life. I was surprised by the recent changes and have missed all the older programs.
There is no longer any reason to keep CBC on my radio “playlist”. I have been forced to a local commercial classical station to […]

Listeners share sense of betrayal
Thursday, October 9th, 2008 People of all ages wrote in. Many were young people protesting the
stereotype that CBC aficionados are a bunch of grey-haired retirees. They
considered Radio 2 part of their education. As one well-respected member of
Winnipeg’s musical community put it: “The CBC has set the standard over the
years for artistic excellence in classical music and can take much of the
credit for ‘building a fire in the bellies of gifted musicians’ to study and
practise hard … Someday, maybe they would perform on the CBC! …
Extraordinary work doesn’t just happen; a good musician needs something to
aspire to!”
