I can honestly say that I have never listened to CBC 2 as much as I have since the changes were implemented.
It is very refreshing to hear the variety that is being presented, much of it cannot be found elsewhere on the dial.
Keep it up CBC, good to see the changes come forth.

These changes to programing are a move in the right direction. Disbanding the CBC orchestra is unfortunate, but classical music is not the only “serious” music being made in Canada. Other Canadian musicians need support too, not just the classically educated ones.
The newer “popular” forms of music being played on radio2 speak to more Canadians far more directly and emotionally than any Canadian written classical piece of music regularly does. This is the music that really examines Canadian culture and identity in a way that can be meaningful to many more people.
I’m not saying that classical and instrumental music should be eliminated from the CBC. Just that it is a good thing that the airwaves are being shared a bit more evenly.
Give the new programs some time to find their flow. In time you might like them.

I am appalled at the philistine dismanling of the CBC Orchestra and the dumbing down of Radio 2.
Classical music is simply the music that has survived because it is the best.
